Exams, X-Rays & Cleanings in Irving, TX
The appointment that catches things while they are still small, and tells you honestly where your oral health stands.
A routine exam is the most valuable half hour in dentistry. At Dental Concepts & Orthodontics we combine a thorough examination, digital X-rays and a professional cleaning, then explain plainly what we found and what, if anything, it means.

Dentistry with the patience of a private studio.
Regular Exams Are Where Good Dentistry Starts
Almost everything expensive in dentistry begins as something small and painless. A regular exam is how those things get found before you feel them — and it is the reason most of our patients never need the treatments the rest of this website describes.
What a Comprehensive Exam Includes
- Examination of Teeth and Gums Teeth, gums, bite and jaw checked carefully for signs of decay, wear or gum disease.
- Digital X-Rays Detailed images that reveal what a visual exam cannot — decay between teeth, bone levels, and developing teeth in children.
- Professional Cleaning Removing the plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing cannot reach, then polishing the teeth.
- Clear Recommendations We explain what we found and talk through the options, so you can make an informed decision rather than an anxious one.
Why Dental X-Rays Matter
X-rays let us see beneath the surface. They pick up cavities forming between teeth where nothing is visible, show the bone level around the roots, and track how permanent teeth are developing in children. That is a proactive picture rather than a reactive one, and it is what keeps small concerns from becoming large ones.
We use digital X-rays, which produce clear images at low radiation. We take them when there is a reason to, not as a matter of routine at every single visit.
How Often Should You Come In?
Most patients are advised to visit every six months. Some need more frequent monitoring — patients with a history of gum disease are usually seen every three to four months, and children going through changes in their teeth may need closer attention. We will recommend the schedule that suits your mouth rather than a standard interval.
Who It Is For
Children, teenagers, adults and seniors all benefit from routine exams and cleanings. For children particularly, regular visits are how the dentist becomes somewhere familiar rather than somewhere frightening.

Exams and X-Rays FAQ
- How often should I have a dental exam?
- Most patients benefit from exams every six months, though we may recommend a different schedule based on your own oral health.
- Are dental X-rays safe?
- Yes. We use digital X-rays, which produce clear images at low radiation, and we take them when there is a clinical reason rather than automatically.
- Do children need X-rays too?
- Yes. X-rays help us monitor tooth development and catch problems early, particularly as the permanent teeth come through.
- What happens if you find a problem?
- We explain what we have found, answer your questions and go through the options, so you can make an informed decision about what to do next.
- Do exams hurt?
- Dental exams are quick and comfortable. We work gently and at your pace, and if anything is uncomfortable we stop.
- It has been years since my last visit. Is that a problem?
- It is common, and it is not something we will make you feel bad about. Come in, let us take a look, and we will work out a plan from wherever you actually are.
