Tooth Extractions in Irving, TX
When a tooth cannot be saved, taking it out gently and promptly protects everything around it.
We would always rather save a tooth. When that is no longer the right call — severe decay, infection, an impacted wisdom tooth — Dental Concepts & Orthodontics removes it safely, comfortably and, where the pain is urgent, quickly.

Dentistry with the patience of a private studio.
Safe, Gentle Tooth Extraction
An extraction is not a failure of dentistry; sometimes it is the treatment that protects the rest of your mouth. Our aim is to keep the procedure comfortable, protect your long-term oral health, and get you a plan for what replaces the tooth.
Why an Extraction May Be Necessary
- Severe Decay or Damage Where a tooth is too far gone for a filling or a crown to restore it.
- Impacted Wisdom Teeth Wisdom teeth that are causing pain, infection or crowding often need to come out.
- Infection An infected tooth can spread into the surrounding bone and gums. Removing it prevents worse.
- Overcrowding Extraction sometimes makes the space needed for orthodontic treatment or an implant.
Urgent and Same-Day Extractions
Dental emergencies do not schedule themselves. We keep time for urgent care, so a severely painful or infected tooth can be seen quickly rather than waiting for the next routine slot. If you are in significant pain, call us — do not wait for it to pass.
Recovery
Healing after an extraction is mostly about the first day or two. Follow these and it usually goes smoothly.
- Rest for the First 24 Hours Avoid strenuous activity while the clot that protects the socket is forming.
- Use a Cold Compress Applied to the outside of the face, it keeps swelling down.
- Stick to Soft Foods For a few days, until the site is comfortable.
- Keep the Site Clean Exactly as instructed — this is what prevents infection and a dry socket.
We give you detailed written aftercare instructions before you leave, and you can call us if anything does not seem right.
Replacing an Extracted Tooth
If a permanent tooth has been removed, it is worth deciding early what goes in its place — the gap changes the position of the teeth either side over time. We offer dental implants, which are the longest-lasting option, along with dentures and partial dentures and bridges. We will talk you through the trade-offs.

Tooth Extractions FAQ
- Does having a tooth out hurt?
- The area is fully numbed first, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Sedation is available if you would rather be more relaxed for it.
- How long does recovery take?
- Most patients are comfortable within a few days. Rest for the first 24 hours, use a cold compress, stick to soft foods and keep the site clean as instructed.
- When do wisdom teeth need to come out?
- When they are impacted and causing pain, infection or crowding. Not every wisdom tooth needs removing — we take X-rays and tell you whether yours does.
- What should I do if a tooth is causing severe pain right now?
- Call us. We keep time for urgent dental care, and severe pain from an infected or damaged tooth is what it is for.
- Do I need to replace the tooth afterwards?
- For a permanent tooth, usually yes. A gap lets the neighboring teeth drift and changes your bite over time. Implants, bridges and dentures are all options, and we will help you choose.
- Can I go back to work afterwards?
- It depends on the extraction and on your job. We advise resting and avoiding strenuous activity for the first 24 hours, so plan for a quiet rest of the day.
