Dental technology can support more detailed evaluation, clearer patient conversations, and carefully planned treatment. The tools used at Dental Concepts & Orthodontics are integrated into care according to each patient’s needs.
01 · What we use
Six tools, one purpose
Each of these is used where it adds something to the evaluation or the plan, not as a matter of routine.
Intraoral cameras
A small handheld camera shows the inside of the mouth on a screen, so you can see the area being described.
3D X-rays
Imaging that shows teeth, roots, and surrounding bone in three dimensions rather than a single flat view.
Laser dentistry
Lasers are used in place of some traditional instruments for certain soft-tissue procedures.
Cone beam CT scanner
A scan that captures detailed three-dimensional images, used in planning treatment such as implants.
Panoramic X-rays
A single wide image of the upper and lower jaws, used for an overall view.
VELscope oral cancer screening
A light-based screening used to examine soft tissue during an examination.
02 · Why it matters to you
Images are reviewed with you on the screen, so a recommendation can be compared against what the scan actually shows.
Technology supports the evaluation and the conversation. It does not replace either, and it does not by itself determine the outcome of treatment.
03 · Where it is used
The same tools, different questions
What gets used depends on what the visit needs to answer. Imaging is not repeated for its own sake.
Routine examinations
Establishing a baseline, checking existing restorations, and screening soft tissue during a general visit.
Restorative planning
Seeing the position of roots, bone, and surrounding structures before crowns, bridges, or implants are planned.
Orthodontic planning
Recording tooth position and jaw relationship so alignment can be planned and progress compared.
Periodontal treatment
Working on gum tissue where a laser is used in place of some traditional instruments.
Injuries and urgent visits
Assessing the extent of a fracture or injury that cannot be seen on the surface.
