Under general supervision, performs mechanical and cosmetic repairs on customer and internal CarMax vehicles in accordance with all standards described in the CarMax Certified Quality Inspection Process and the Retail Repair Process. Additionally, performs all customer contact functions during repairs as defined by CarMax “Voice of Customer” processes, orders and maintains parts and supply inventories and properly uses and maintains all CarMax Tools and Equipment to support the store operations. Duties include executing CarMax Standardized work, engine repair, advancing engine performance and drivability, electrical systems repair, manual drive train and axle repair, brake diagnosis and repair, steering and suspension repairs including 4-wheel alignments, heating and air conditioning repair, inspecting vehicles per CarMax Quality Standards, maintaining workplace cleanliness and organization, maintaining and repairing shop equipment, interacting with customers in a friendly, service-oriented manner, consulting with service customers regarding needed repairs, reviewing repair orders for accuracy, closing and invoicing repair orders, explaining recommendations and repairs to customers, collecting service payments and managing cash, locating and receiving parts shipments, maintaining parts inventory, and controlling service supplies to minimize waste. Additional responsibilities may include supporting store operations to maintain vehicle inventory and quality standards, supporting sales by assessing vehicle condition, prepping sold vehicles for delivery, handling vehicles with sublet vendors when needed. Job specifications require ability to perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, lift objects up to 50 pounds, demonstrate attention to detail and manual dexterity, monitor shop compliance with CarMax, OSHA, and EPA standards, and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Working conditions include a combination of office and outdoor environments, possible exposure to noisy and inclement weather, flexible work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and adherence to CarMax policies and safety standards.
