    Job Details

  • Provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards.
  • Assist in coordination of patient care by supporting registered nurses and collaborating with health team members.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Act as support during surgical procedures but not as a surgical assistant.
  • Create and maintain asepsis and perform scrubbing duties.
  • Communicate patient information to appropriate persons.
  • Account for all equipment and supplies used in patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, health team members, patients, and visitors.
  • Support teamwork within the department and units.
  • Perform clinical preceptor role for scrubbing and follow orientation outline.
  • Maintain cleanliness in unit and care for equipment used during surgical cases.
  • Perform other job duties and responsibilities as required.

    Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to provide patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.

    Additional Details

  • Limited access to Medication Rooms; medications should not be handled at any time.
  • Work demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, lifting/moving patients, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and constant reaching with hands/arms and twisting.
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, infectious materials, communicable diseases, and risk of blood-borne pathogens.
  • Moderate to high noise level in work area.
  • Work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.
  • May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on department needs.
