Compensation: Starts at $80,000-85,000

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Project Controller/Accountant to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations within our construction company. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership capabilities, a solid understanding of construction accounting practices, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with both office and field personnel.
Responsibilities: - Support the Financial Controller in financial management, planning, and reporting.
- Provie support in processing AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger transactions with attention to accuracy and deadlines.
- Assist in full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Support accurate contract setup, billing, change orders, retention, lien releases, certified payroll, and insurance compliance.
- Assist with annual budgets, financial forecasts and strategic initiatives.
- Track job costs, and assist in preparing detailed project-level financial reports and WIP (Work-In-Progress) schedules.
- Help ensure compliance with construction-specific regulatory requirements, including state and local tax filings, prevailing wage laws, union/non-union payroll, and lien laws.
- Participate in financial system upgrades and workflow automation projects to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Support risk management and insurance tracking, including certificates of insurance (CIOs) and subcontractor compliance.
- Assist in developing and maintain project schedules using MS Project or P6.
- Track labor, material, and subcontractor activity to identify trends and support project adjustments.
- Assist with preparing, reviewing and entering invoices, and change order review, and help manage billing in coordination with the project team.
- Understand contract payment schedules to maintain a positive project cash flow.
The successful candidate will have: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction billing practices.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Construction Edition), Microsoft Excel, and payroll platforms.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to other office sites/jobs as needed.

- Competitive base salary of $80,000-$85,000 annually, with company-paid benefits and an on-target earnings (OTE) potential of $125,000 per year
