Job Description

A large manufacturing client in Milwaukee is looking to hire an engineering professional to join their PET Division. This company is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of filling and packaging systems for beverages and liquid food so we are looking for someone familiar with this space already, may it be through education or professional experience. The Product Specialist will be responsible for driving innovation and technical support in the development and application of PET packaging solutions. This role supports sales and engineering efforts by providing expertise in PET technology, packaging design, and system integration, ensuring high performance and customer satisfaction across packaging lines.

This person will report to the Director of Engineering and be a consultant of sorts between the business/sales team and clients within the PET and plastic processing space.

Key Responsibilities:

Packaging Concept Development:

• Design and define PET packaging solutions, including advanced barrier packaging concepts.
• Develop preforms, bottles, and optimize stretch blow molding (SBM) processes, machine speeds, and oven configurations.

Customer & Sales Support:

• Provide technical expertise to support PET sales through customer meetings, presentations, and consultations.
• Clarify packaging specifications and machine parameters during proposal and execution phases.
• Assist in identifying correct replacement parts to support parts sales.

Project Execution & Lab Oversight:

• Lead PET packaging development projects from concept to implementation.
• Manage operations and testing activities within the PET lab.
• Verify equipment performance prior to shipment to ensure alignment with customer requirements.

Market Analysis & Strategic Planning:

• Monitor local packaging technology trends to identify opportunities for PET solutions.
• Develop requirement profiles to support PET adoption in various market segments.

On-Site Support & Troubleshooting:

• Provide technical support during product development, customer ramp-ups, and line commissioning.
• Conduct bottle sampling and on-site processing assistance.
• Collaborate with field service and customer technical teams to diagnose and resolve equipment performance issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with production to test and validate equipment.
• Provide technical support to internal teams, including sales, service, and purchasing.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and integrate relevant European and American engineering standards.

Must Haves:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
• 5 years of knowledge in PET packaging technology
• 5 years of knowledge in plastic processing techniques
• 3 years of experience in engineering processing equipment in a food or beverage packaging/processing environment
• Basic engineering knowledge of mechanics, electrics and pneumatics.
• Mastery of MS Office applications and ERP Systems
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to client sites in US and Headquarters in Germany as needed

Salary of $95,000 - $110,000 annually
