Job Description
Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Hydraulics Mechanic position in Portland . Our client is a well-established industry leader known for innovation and a commitment to delivering the highest quality results across shipboard and industrial projects. Key Responsibilities:
· Perform equipment removal and installation on shipboard and industrial systems.
· Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, and related mechanical components.
· Disassemble and reassemble machinery for overhauls, retrofits, or upgrades.
· Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics; work to exact tolerances.
· Fabricate and fit marine piping; perform bending and burning operations.
· Operate shop equipment such as lathes, mills, and presses; use precision measuring tools.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment per safety protocols.
· Accurately document work performed, parts used, and project status updates.
· Collaborate with team members to meet project timelines and uphold quality standards.
· Work both onboard ships (docked) and in the shop; flex to any assigned shift.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Technical school diploma or Machinist Apprentice graduate preferred.
· Minimum 3 years of machinist experience, with at least 1 year in a marine repair or shipbuilding environment—OR any combination of education, training, or experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties.
· Proficient in marine pipefitting, bending, and burning.
· Skilled at reading blueprints and maintaining exact tolerances.
· Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
· Must comprehend written and verbal English instructions; able to hear warning signals and read safety regulations.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team.
· Willingness to travel and work overtime as required.
· A handson proficiency test may be conducted prior to hire.
