The HIM Document Courier is responsible for performing health information management functions, including but not limited to, delivering orders to community provider offices for signature, compiling and processing provider orders, compiling record requests, and maintaining paper and electronic medical records in a manner consistent with HIM industry standards and ethics.

Part-Time: 24 hours per week, flexible schedule.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Health related licensure, g., C.N.A, Medical Assistant, RHIT, etc. or equivalent medical experience preferred
• Knowledgeable in medical terminology
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and email required
• Maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain current automobile insurance

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Local travel to provider offices to follow up and obtain orders pending provider signature
• Protects the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained
• Scans and indexes documentation into the EMR through the use of document management system
• Assists in compiling release of information requests
• Acts as a customer service representative between community providers and the HIM Department
• Interacts with clinical staff to assist in facilitating the exchange of patient information pertinent to providing patient care
• Additional tasks as directed by supervisor
