Barrys is the Best Workout in the WorldTM. Founded in West Hollywood in 1998, its the original strength and cardio interval fitness experience that provides an immersive, high-intensity, one-hour workout thats as effective as it is fun. Our fitness classes alternate between working out with weights and running on a treadmill. Each day focuses on a different muscle group in order to achieve real results and to prevent injuries. Our program is designed to tone muscle and maximize fat loss, while spiking the metabolism for up to 48 hours following the class.

About The Role

The Director of Instructor Talent Management reports to the Senior Director of Talent. This leadership role is responsible for managing and optimizing the performance, development, and engagement of our instructor population while ensuring alignment with Barrys core values of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity. They exhibit passion for the Barrys brand. Through strategic and dynamic leadership, focus on inspiring, and developing the creative and driven instructors across multiple regions. The Director will collaborate across departments and lead the talent organization with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, while fostering a culture of growth, performance, and personal development.

What You'll Do

Team Leadership

  • Inspire, mentor, and motivate instructors, fostering an environment of creativity, accountability, and personal growth
  • Lead with vision, guiding the instructor population through Barrys values and culture, while supporting the teams goals and professional aspirations
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment by engaging with cross-functional teams and leaders across the organization
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across all levels of the instructor team to ensure representation and inclusivity
  • Drive team engagement through regular feedback, career pathing, and professional development initiatives
  • Ensure consistent performance management and goal setting aligned with the companys growth objectives
  • Maintain presence by traveling to markets

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Partner with People & Culture, Strategy, Operations, and Talent teams to manage performance, and develop talent strategies that align with business goals and market needs
  • Drive DEI strategies, monitor progress, and implement initiatives to ensure an equitable and diverse talent pool across regions and markets
  • Regularly review and assess team performance using qualitative and quantitative metrics to inform decision-making and drive improvements
  • Collaborate with leadership on instructor compensation planning, including reviewing compensation bands and ensuring equitable structures
  • Actively participate in curriculum development, offering insights based on instructor feedback and field performance
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of instructor talent by partnering with the Talent Recruitment team on sourcing, onboarding, and retention efforts

Operational Responsibilities

  • Manage the performance, career development, compensation, and scheduling of instructors within specific regions
  • Oversee the administration of performance reviews, corrective actions, and career development plans for all instructors
  • Ensure instructors adherence to KPIs, production goals, and engagement metrics, regularly monitoring and providing feedback for improvement
  • Conduct regular 1:1 development sessions with TDLs and instructors to discuss career progression and performance
  • Monitor instructor deliverables, including social media engagement, uniform compliance, and participation in key meetings and activities
  • Collaborate with Operations and Strategy teams to optimize scheduling, including holiday schedules and last-minute coverage needs
  • Ensure successful onboarding of new instructors, including proper training, documentation, and integration into the Barrys culture
    • Schedule monthly meet & greet for new instructors with SVP Talent & DEIB and CEO
Communication & Collaboration

  • Facilitate cross-functional communication through regular calls, meetings, and collaborative initiatives with teams such as Curriculum, Recruiting, Operations, and People & Culture
  • Ensure timely, consistent and transparent communication with instructors on all aspects of their performance
  • Drive engagement by encouraging positive relationships between instructors and the leadership team, fostering an inclusive culture
  • Partner with Talent Recruitment team on the recruitment and ongoing development of instructor talent, ensuring a best in class bench as well as current talent pool

Administrative and Reporting Duties

  • Review and approve timesheets, overtime, and payroll for the instructor population, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM systems, tracking instructor performance, feedback, and key data points
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to instructor production, attendance, subbing and other key deliverables
  • Prepare and deliver regular performance reports to senior leadership, highlighting trends, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Talent Leadership team on various projects, initiatives, and strategy meetings

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of people management experience with a demonstrated track record in talent management and relations, preferably within high-growth, geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience in dynamic, fast-paced industries such as hospitality, fitness, entertainment, or creative sectors is preferred
  • Proven ability to manage large teams, build talent pipelines, and drive employee engagement and performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring alignment across all organizational levels.
  • A deep passion for fitness and/or the Barrys brand and a commitment to the companys mission.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.

This role offers flexibility in location, allowing for remote work.

The Pay Range For This Role Is

100,000 - 120,000 USD per year(San Francisco)
